2022 Traditions Contest: Pomodoro Sauce
The smell of the tomatoes on the stove
has been filling the house all day.
Mom yells for us to come to the kitchen
and there is the sauce we’ve
been waiting for.
I sprinkle the pecorino romano
on my plate like a layer of snow,
or maybe it's more like a blizzard.
I swirl and twirl the angel hair with
my fork and they become graceful dancers
in front of my eyes.
