Evergreens
The trees
Filtered the light
Through my
Window
Illuminating
The tears
On my cheeks
Thorns grew
Ivy grew
Around my heart
Leaving me for
Her
Why was
She
The one that made
You find the
Love I had?
I told myself
I was solid as a
Tree
Like the ones
Outside my window
And yet
I’m as fluid as
Water
I’m as shattered as
Glass
And I’m as heartbroken as
Evergreens
They always grow
Alone
Never growing
Together like
Other trees
Alone and different
So I am an
Evergreen
Trying to survive on
My own
Showered in snow
Or tears
I can’t tell which
