Count the time!
It’s quadriplegic
Phantom arms grasp phantom knees
The little hand lands on the three
It flexes its fingers
Traces the winding tick, tick
Always ticking
Yawning farther into life–
Scrape against the clock
Ticking
Echoed by a child
Arms and hands
Count the time–
Oh, wiggly one
Squirm away as you will
You won’t shake the inevitable
And its chokehold of a grip
The fist slams down
Pity– tick, tick, tick
Racing an eternal watch
A trip is to die–
It’s quadriplegic!
