20’s serve comes flying over the net, and I make
a perfect pass straight to our setter.
Come on, come on, come on.
You’ve got this, Jaylee!
I watch the ball soar over Kylie’s head;
straight to Anna.
No!
The horrible slapping noise of skin against ball fills the air
as the ball flutters into the net.
I sulk back to my spot and observe the people around me.
My coaches and teammates were all looking at me with disappointment.
They were all staring at me.
