Goodbye
What is a goodbye?
but the drifting of white dandelion seeds in the wind
landing in a pond a stone’s throw away from where they grew
making ripples as they plunge through the surface of the water.
The ripples disrupt the surface of the pond
creating clamor and chaos as the water bugs hop away.
But you and I both know the ripples do not last long.
They begin to slow until
the pond recedes into stagnation,
with no sign that the ripples were ever there.
So goodbye dear friend.
I fear you have forgotten the ripples I have made
but maybe one day when the pond dries up,
my dandelions will grow
serving as a reminder of what once was.
