Now I Know

I once was 3, had high hopes
The hopes were ludicrous I know
But I was 3, so I didn’t know
I once was 11, hopes were low
Didn’t know they would grow
But I was 11, so I didn’t know
I am now 16, hopes are high
Hopes are still growing, don’t think I’ll run out of hopes
Now I know what this feeling is called
Optimism, something I’ve had and lost
I have it now and I won’t lose it again
But I am 16, and now I know
