I Watch
I Watch
Inspired by Enchanted Island
In the distance three birds fly near me.
Their wings are precise, crisp over the water.
I watch them swoop up and down.
I stay as the sun rises and sets.
Seeing the blue and pink of the sky.
Sometimes the blues linger for a while.
Covering our bay,
blue devours the island,
a reflection of the sky.
Those sticks used to be trees.
When us islands were together.
Grand, lush, lively trees.
Not anymore, so for now I will watch,
for low tide may come, where we can be whole,
and I can see the enchanted island.
