Petting Zoo

Kept in a metal cage
only to be laughed at.
Pet head to toe
only to be judged.
Why is everybody trapped
inside a petting zoo?
When all we do is laugh about our own
insecurities,
just like pets
laugh at their family.
Steadily breathing
in their cage
of sorrow...
will you,
or anybody,
let me out of this petting zoo?
Or am I trapped here to rot away
like a barnacle on a sinking ship?
