Forbidden fruit,
Hanging low,
Close enough to reach out and touch you
If I let myself.
But I don’t.
Cause Self-Preservation taught me well
Lucifer with a halo
Is the worst devil of them all.
I try to ignore
But I could never lock myself away from you
Even if I wanted to,
Slivers of shiny smiles and sandy blonde hair slip through
Creeping through my brain like ivy up a brick wall.
There’s no way around you,
You shape my solitude,
Make my dreams into your playground
And our separation chasm.
But as long as you’re taboo…
I’ll seek you.
