ShhHHHHphphhhhhhhhh ….. ShhhhhhHHHHHppphpphhhhhh

Sound the waves on the rocks

Shhhhhhhhthhh …… shhhhhhhhhththhhhhhhh

Rustle the leaves in the breeze

Eine eine eine!

Cry the seagulls, far overhead

~

The fantastic sultry smell of sea salt consumes the nostrils

Tinted only by the sweet melodic scent of pine

And somehow, through it all, the smell sensation of cool fresh air

A melange of scents, in coexistence rather than competition

~

The wind slowly laps at your face

A cool, yet humid breeze seemingly full of life

Your body feels weightless, your heavy pack now at your side

As your outstretched palms support your body on the raw granite

~

From your pack you take the lunch that is your bounty,

A lobster roll filling your mouth with every tangy sensation,

Ever so moistened by its time in the humid ziplock

Followed by a heavenly piece of drippingly sweet Maple candy

~

A graceful hawk soars a few hundred feet from your perch

Over the endless sea, which glints brilliant as diamond on a ring

Littered by chains of prickly islands, each forested both by pines and the unknown

Accompanied by busy lobster boats dotting the water, casting their traps

Traps which in turn blanket the water with a sea of multicolored buoys

Which are anything but pollution

~

A myriad of sensations awaits those who take the time

To climb a mountain and sit in the moment

Allowing you to leave behind your Earthly worries

And once you descend, you’ll have lived a life longer than the most immortal of men
