GIVE ME BACK MY HEART
i still remember when
you reached your filthy hands
into the depths of my chest
the left side of my ribcage
into the void of red
the abyss of myriad sorrows
and tore out the one organ
that i need for survival.
you pulled out my heart
ripped it out
seized it
yanked it from its safety
its home
twisted it from its comfort
and held it in your hand.
my beautiful, source of life
my one and only
in your vulgar fists
still alive
trying to breathe
still forcing itself
for me
suffering
aching
grieving
it’s in pain
agonizing
it’s tormented
traumatized
and
beating
wait-
i’m sorry-
did i say beating?
i meant
bleeding.
