Run On Sentence
A cloud of dread is hanging over us
What always comes after a tough loss
Ashamed, knowing what could’ve been
Endless thoughts of regret swarm our heads
Attempting to justify our countless mistakes
Distressed, trying to savor the time left
Then he storms in
Clutching his gavel in hand
Optimistic, hoping we’ll get off with a warning
The jury concurs
Soon he lays down the sentence
Slapping us into reality
“Get on the line”
We get up and groan
Start running laps till parole
