Wind + Rain
I was in the cold wind and rain in those days
On that evening
The laughter and excitement of
Our friend being back home
Was looming in the air.
I knew her.
She didn’t know me though,
Even though we had always been friends
I stood with everyone else
Pretending to be a part of them,
But the tension in the air
Was saying everything it needed.
I looked at her
She glanced at me
The people tucked me into them
They mixed me into the poison
I became part of it
maybe the worst part
Maybe I would be better off gone-
Not a part of it
She said it was okay
We were all like this
What did we do to each other?
We love each other.
I answered.
Then why did we tear each other to pieces?
