"When thrown to the wolves, you should return leading the pack."

Remnants of you
Linger in my mind
when everything has stopped
And the stars shine the brightest

But time flies and people grow apart,
And so did we.

I do recall how your laughter would echo in the room
And how people couldn't help but be in awe
and it made sense to me because I adored you just as much

As a few years have passed
I did eventually forget how easy it was for you to bring a smile to my face
and how gushy I'd feel whenever I'd get you to smile,
Yet it wouldn't take much for me to remember,

Memories of you, ever so vivid
I keep at the back of my mind
And once in a while
when I'm reminded of you,
These memories seem to remain just as clear

Remnants of you
Still Linger in my mind sometimes

But time flies and we forget,
Yet every so often I do wonder
did you?

Author's Note: This poem was inspired by a past friend of mine, whom I haven't seen in a really long time (and that I might not ever see again). I'd consider this an attempt of describing how bonds form and how people eventually drift apart as time goes on, up until one reaches the point of realization, being reminded of all that has been.
