An Ocean of Sadness
The deepest water, the darkest depths.
It came in waves, washing over me.
The waves grew stronger,
crashing, thrashing, slamming into me.
My heart grew heavy, and so did my head,
but then I swam.
I swam for the surface,
I swam for the air,
I swam for life.
But the waves just kept coming
kept pulling me under, kept me down,
but still I swam.
The waves began to overwhelm me,
my arms began to weaken,
my legs got slower,
my chest felt crushed beneath their weight,
but my soul clinged to life,
as a child clings to it's mother.
Soon, the waves grew stronger than I,
and I felt the tides pull me under.
It was then I knew that I could not escape,
and so I gave in,
and so I sank,
to the bottom of the ocean,
and at the bottom of the ocean,
is where I remain.
But as I stand,
at these murky depths,
I keep my head skyward,
looking for the light.
