Back to the Cupcake Shop
Flavors of lemon, raspberry, and rich cheesecake frosting.
The vibrant decoration of the shop; color popping everywhere.
Early morning memories,
I miss being a little girl.
I would so often go out for dessert with my mom,
And then it stopped,
But now I am here again.
The beginning of my adolescence was rapid water,
But has now settled into a calm pool.
I swim back to retrieve some of what I lost in the storm.
"I won't forget you," I say
Because I want it with me when I go into womanhood
The part of me that sees the world as good,
and the cupcake shop as magic,
and the people as a mystery,
and life an exciting adventure,
bravely embracing the unknown.
I don't want to go without my little girl,
Because without her the world would never be enough.
I sit with my mom, we have returned to the cupcake shop.
My little girl smiles about the pink walls;
She is enough for me to love.
