The Storm
Finally, the thunder thumped
The drops of rain heavier than ever
Lighting crackling in the dark sky
Finally, the storm had come
Pridefully she walked into the storm
She walked in ready to be greeted by the darkness
The storm so loud she could no longer hear
Overpowering the noise of her mother’s advice
She had waited for this storm since she first saw the gloom
Her first taste of gloom, rebellion and independence
Once an innocent child, clear skies and sunshine
Tired of the tranquility she sought out the doom
She could not wait for the storm of adulthood
And as the smokey grey clouds surrounded her
Flashes of lightning coming close to strike
Thunder booming so loudly she could not hear her own thoughts
At last, she wanted nothing more than to escape the storm
To be a child once more
