Time & Time Again
With lines from "Church vs. State" by Adam Willis & Eloisa Lopez, a Pulitzer reporting project
Time & time again,
The history of hatred rears its head,
Lazarus, the living dead,
resurrected by Christ,
Occupying a vague space,
Somewhere between Activist, Journalist, & Minister,
Time & time again,
Government loses its wisdom,
Harming, not helping,
Around us, Killing fields, the slums of Manila
A rusted .38,
Damnation, persecution,
Evidence and reason thrown aside,
Time & time again,
A hero,
in the name of the Catholic Church,
Ordinary people,
doing the extraordinary in the name of kindness,
The true people of God,
The heroes this world so sorely needs.

This piece was written for a Pulitzer Centre Contest. The article "Church Vs. State" is about the Philipino "War on Drugs", and how so many innocents are caught in the middle. The article focuses on Francisco Santiago Jr., a cab driver, who was brutally attacked by Philipino Police and shot several times. He survived and lived with "Brother Jun", a Catholic Priest who has been working in the background to help those unjustly targeted by Philipino Police in their "War on Drugs"
