Hair
with my hair, comes my emotions
volatile, like the passing wind
a beloved cool breeze coursing through my auburn locks
a tickle of twists that barely reach my neck
tinted red by the rush of blood through my own veins
a course of life found in all of us, especially the pigmented fall leaves i hold so dear
a sense of change in a world that seems so solid
after much contemplation, a shred of inner peace is found
the sun rejoices as my hair turns blonde and beautiful, kissed by the skies above
sadly, this blissful solitude must only be temporary
as it turns out my inner resignation was poorly masked by false delusions
the tears of unwillingness run down my face, the bath water runs
my hair soon becomes brown as the winter’s twilight, verging on a deep shade of ebony black
a physical soaking with the weight of my own hauntings
i used to always believe i wore my emotions on my sleeve
but it turns out they are just as present on my crown
hair, an entwinement of raw and painstaking care
fables so lengthy they could touch the hanging heavens above
where even mother nature finds herself at odds with the creation she once called her own

Hello! My name’s Marceline! I wrote this poem after being inspired by my rapidly changing hair color/length and the memories held within it. Hope you enjoy reading it!
