love is a river
love is
a river,
winding
through
the forest,
with sharp turns
And
steep
inclines.
It’s rough and
Full of r~a~p~i~d~s,
Easily
lost in.
ᴊaggǝd cliffs
and bro ken bran ches
int er rupt
the peaceful flow.
Sometimes it's smooth and clear.
Or it drops
quick and violent,
D am agi
ng ev ery
th ing
In its path.
it may dry up,
Or get lost in seemingly endless woods.
But if you just
keep going
forward
someday
you'll find it.

Until very recently, I had a very strong distaste for poetry. I never understood it, I wasn't good at writing it, but my freshman literature teacher helped me learn to appreciate the simple yet so vastly complicated word that is poetry. He encouraged my writing and gave constructive criticism that helped me grow as a writer. This poem tells a message that I think can be very comforting to my fellow hopeless romantics. Hope you enjoy!
