He gasped for air as he was flung violently back and forth,

He had fallen in a place he was never meant to be,

Such a fragile creature searching for safety,

An unforgiving ocean forged from brownian motion on a galactic scale,

Life, an uneasy compromise between the universe and its forces,

Yet one hope remained for his continued existence,

A small speck of rocks and a single coconut tree,

Battered and twisted from winds and rains,

He swam with no luck,

yet the waters had granted him one moment of favor,

On the island he sat,

With his new best friend,

the coconut tree.

I wrote this piece for an English project with the goal of showing the resilience of live in the toughest situations. I enjoy writing about the vastness of the universe and contemplated our place in it.
