Waiting for you
Selfless by the Strokes
Waiting for You
I wasn’t sure how long I could wait for you,
This entire situation had me feeling very blue.
I sat there pondering over the last words you told me
Receiving a stinging feeling, knowing this would take great healing
I tried to gather myself but I found myself unable to move
I just sat there and rethought the last words I said to you,
Please don’t be long, because I want your love
My life was incomplete without you
You had me wrapped around your delicate finger
Why would you want me to linger?
I found myself reliving our relationship,
Going over every detail, hoping to find my flaws
Wondering if I was the cause.
Even though you said it wasn’t me, still I couldn't help but disagree
Why else would you do this to me?
Please don’t be long, because I want your love
It’s been a week and you haven’t called.
I prayed everything would soon be resolved
Suddenly I heard a knock, in shock that it was you
We stood in the doorway for a second, until you reached for me
I felt my heart begin to race, in disbelief that you were truly here
Knowing this meant you were going to come back to me.
