Oh Anna
TW: mental health, eating disorders
Oh Anna, they say your beauty is haunting.
You hold such a fragile form; a tiny waist and a ghostly pale complexion.
You’re so small, easily hidden from prying eyes.
You are my best friend, there through thick and thin.
You manage my habits and take charge of my life.
Together we count carbs and calories,
Avoiding anything too sugary, pushing away anything fatty,
reminding me of daily weigh-ins, anything over 120 is shameful.
You don't approve of anything higher,
I pray my jeans don’t get any tighter.
You console me when I grow,
and teach me how to get rid of it quick,
with one of your many tricks.
Oh Anna, my friend, you hurt me so;
but my dear Anna, I cannot let you go.
