2020
understand that the world is angry with us.
she is offended, if not displeased.
she sees the garbage on the side of the highway,
the clouds of pollution pumping from factories,
her forests being torn down, and openly despises mankind.
she punishes us—350,831 departures.
she understands that we cannot be perfect,
but cannot accept those who do not
put forth the effort to better themselves.
her tears flood and break our already broken streets,
her indignation rerooting the foundation of our lives.
she boils with bittersweet rage and cannot
begin to understand why her children
would betray her loving embrace.
to understand that we are erroneous,
we must reform decisions with greater intent
than before, for the sake of mankind
and the mother herself.
we must work to replant the soil, seeds–
the dried roots of the world together
to maintain the beauty of each other
and our source of our life.
