A Table
Stuck in a house.
Not my house, just a house.
Stuck used by users.
Stuck like glue.
Stuck in rubble.
People know me for that house fire
Where I was the only thing remaining.
Untouched, like I was never used.
Stuck in a museum.
Used to not be used.
Where users took me off my feet
And used me to look unused.
They don’t know what “used” means.
Because they haven’t been on the receiving end of it.
But they think they know it.
Because they’ve been on the granting end of it.
So here I sit.
Used by users to look unused to the users.
But you can’t “unuse” something
If you’ve already left your mark.

This piece was originally intended for a contest, however I couldn't make the deadline. In the end, I decided this was the next best place for me to publish it.
