High School During Covid

My Freshman year, The beginning of it all, It was a unworldly mystique

So many new things to explore and see

To meet new people and find better surroundings

All to be cut short by a international contagion

Feeling stuck in a seemingly endless loop of uncertainty

Fighting technology and disease

Not being able to leave my house

Sophomore year can only be described as hell

Junior year felt like a trance

Getting back to normal in a still pandemic ravaged world

Settling into the hardest year of my high school career

Having to make decisions about my future and current life

It all seemed focused on making it to June

My final year, the top of the student body

The beginning felt easy, and the feeling that you were a senior

The excitement that settled in, knowing that 14 years of work would all end soon

Senioritis, everyone's main enemy

This settled in around March, hoping the next 3 months would fly

And fly they have

Less than 2 months out, the excitement grows, but my harsh feelings for school kick in

Decatur high school was an interesting experience

There were definitely good moments

But a lot of questionable ones too

I’m glad I at least had somewhat of a high school experience

But If i was offered a million dollars to do it again, I would say hell no and turn them down
