Righteous Rebellion
Righteous Rebellion
“Government is best which governs least.”
For otherwise our government is perverted.
With each objection, their integrity crumbles,
For the government holds privilege, it holds power.
And with every claim, they grow more corrupt.
For the government’s power is liable to be abused.
We fight for our rights.
The same ones they go against.
There is a subtle concept of “day and night” that comes with this trust.
The same trust we place in the government forces us to protest.
We fight for change.
For otherwise their principles and virtues are imposed upon us.
With each decision, we are reminded of their expediency.
For the government rarely comes to a compromise.
And with each resolve, we are reminded of the glaring inequality.
For the government’s power is liable to be abused.
We fight against oppression.
The same concept forcing so many down.
This concept of “day and night” is no longer subtle.
The same trust has spread virally to the extremes of “right” and “wrong”
We fight to save ourselves.
Because what is our government if not a construct of obedience and disobedience?
They claim our government “deserves to prevail”,
Yet, it does not.
They claim our protests will bring about an “at once a better government”,
Yet, it does not.
“Government is best which governs least.”
