A Summer Drive
A Summer Drive
The windows are down, and both of our hair is blowing in the wind
Completely free to move in whatever direction it chooses
Kind of like us
Senior year came quick and ended even quicker
As the last few strands of sunlight linger, so do we
It is hard to change, and to let go of your past
But we will travel down these winding roads on this sweet summer evening
We will scream each lyric and laugh loudly at each joke
Until our stomach’s ache and our lung’s burn
We will live in this moment for as long as we can
Because we know this summer’s got to end

This poem was written about my best friend, and about spending our last summer together before college. It's a poem about appreciating what you have while you have it, and about accepting when it's time to let it go.
