The clocks start with haste and urgency
The pieces begin to move with sounds in beautiful unison
My expression is fixed as if time had stopped suddenly
Calm rushes over my shoulders as I play
and my prep streams into my fingers
My eyes light up when an opportunity strikes
but strain to complete my intricate calculation
Sweat drops from my brow as the hours go on
As tension shadows the checkered board on the world stage
Matches are won and lost
but my love of the game is never gone
