What Age
You ask me to know how I will pay for college or a house.
When a week ago I had to ask to use the bathroom.
I’m asked to wear a uniform to war.
When a day ago I was popping a zit on my face.
I can go to jail.
I can go to war.
I can vote.
But when I speak, it’s out of turn.
When I have a thought It’s immature because I don’t know enough.
I’m not too young to know what hard work is.
But I’m old enough to work two jobs and go to school.
I’m lazy when I’m on my phone.
A slug when I need sleep.
I’m stupid if I don’t go to college.
But privileged when I do.
Too young for that to immature for this.
What age is good enough?

I wrote this peace of social criticism out of frustration with my over worked schedule and many adults commenting I didn't understand what hard work was. When at the time I was working two job and was a full time student. I wanted to write something that all people my age or in my position could connect and could feel heard in a way.
