King of the Mountains
Two blue furry ears twitch forward,
Two large eyes open wide and alert.
Two arms flare their claws in display,
One giant mouth shouts, wide and agape:
“I am the king of the mountains!
Nothing stands before me.
The trees all bow and the creatures weep,
Before the majesty that is me.”
It bellows and roars its mightiest cry,
Its calls reverberate throughout the skies.
The blue haired creature puffs out its chest
Looking over its kingdom in content.
But behind it the king did not realize,
An even greater creature lay dormant.
From its arrogant cries a colossal beast wakes,
Emerging from the treeline to remind it of its place.
“The trees may bow and the creatures may weep,
But that is only before you that they do.
When your back is turned they mock and lament
The hollow king that is you.”
