Baby
She stood in the shadows,
Her heart was heavy and bruised.
For each month that passed,
Her hope remained subdued.
A baby was wanted,
For something so sweet,
But all her attempts seemed to be incomplete.
The tears pooled in her eyes,
And she locked herself away.
Concealing the pain she feels,
Like a secret, she would not convey.
The months went by,
But only more sorrow.
Each time ended in a loss,
Without a tomorrow.
Every time she thought if she just had one more try,
Maybe then she'd find the chance to hear a baby's cry.
But for every pregnancy,
In the end,
The expectations just fail.
Leaving her drained of hope,
And experiencing acedia,
Her world without hale.
She thought she was strong enough,
But the strength she once found had long gone.
She couldn't take any more heartache,
From this,
She was done.
Why had the spell of hope been cast upon her in mirage,
Why did fate keep punishing her,
And leave her in such sorrow?
The mystery of it all seemed pointless now,
It was all so clear;
The answer was how.
An answer she could never in all her life comprehend.
The sadness that she felt would never again see its end.

I just wanted to write this piece to spread awareness of women who can not be mothers.
