What I really want to say is
What I really want to say is I want you to talk to me
I want you to burden me with the heavy tasks you are put through everyday
To stop being so silent and trying to protect me from what you see
You need to let it out and just know I’m a person to go to
Don’t think about it being too much for me, because I know for a fact that it’s too much for you
You walk in the door everyday after your shift and I know you’re a changed man
I know you said nothing but hugged me and Alyssa as soon as you walked in the door for a reason
What I really want to say is I worry you have been quiet for too long
You have been quiet your whole life but it’s different when I know what we and you have gone through is too much to bare on your own
I don’t know how you kept it in and now on this new journey, continue to keep it in
Will you listen to me if I tell you to talk to me about it
Or will you come home everyday acting as if nothing is wrong
Acting as if you didn’t just see someone die
These are moments you shouldn’t have to live through alone
Which is why
What I really want to say is let go of your self expectation to be the man of the house
To never break character and to lead this family strong
We can do this together, and it’s not only on you
Please break the narrative of men don’t cry
And break it in front of me because I want to witness that
You see and take care of the unthinkable along with this family so
What I really want to say is it’s time for me to take care of you

About my older brother and how he has a very grueling job as a firefighter, but he keeps to himself too much, and I know he's hurting so I want him to talk to me.
