Like the Seasons
Your love changed
Like the seasons.
Warm and full of life
In the summer.
A warmth I missed
In the fall.
A warmth barely there.
But, I felt it.
I might've imagined it.
Your love changed with
The color of the leaves.
Red has always been
My favorite color, anyways.
Then summer slips aways
And autumn came
Knocking on my door
And taking your love with it.
I missed you in the winter,
When you kept me
At arm's length.
Just in case
You needed me
To keep you warm.
But in the spring,
Your love for me
Blossomed like the flowers
In the ground.
Free and uninhibited like the breeze
In my hair.
