starved silence

i live in the depths of a fragile mind’s abyss

in a never ending battle, near death’s sweet kiss

a constant struggle with shadows persist

i dance with demons, a relentless fight

in a soul consumed by desperate plight,

hunger’s grip holds both day and night

mirrored reflections, distorted and cruel

my mind weaves a tale, a perverted fuel

perfection whispers, an unattainable jewel

starvation’s clutch, its wicked embrace

invisible wounds take all space

in my search of solace, i know i find

that beneath the surface, under pain intertwined

beauty transcends numbers confined

and true worth lies beyond the mirror’s define

for in the darkest moments, when hope seems strained,

when we feel forever tearstained,

together, we will heal, a chorus sustained.

So let us break the silence and shatter the shame

Illuminate compassion and erase the blame

In unity, we’ll stand, igniting the flame

A world where scars heal, and hearts reclaim

This piece is about my journey in recovering from an eating disorder as a teenager. I hoped to heal through writing this poem, and I hope to aid others in healing as well.
