Happy Ever After
My arms purple, I painted all night
From his mouth intoxicating smell came out
Waiting for my shiny knight
My suitcase packed but I doubt
From his mouth intoxicating smell came out
The night-long gone, the sun rose
My suitcase packed but I doubt
I watch roses fall while my eyes close
The night-long gone, the sun rose
Original copy of the day before
I watch roses fall while my eyes close
He sings while slamming the door
Original copy of the day before
Staying as quiet as a mouse
He sings while slamming the door
Saying I am the best spouse
Staying as quiet as a mouse
Freeing me of my chains
Saying I am the best spouse
A cross tattooed on my veins

Since the author Fabiola Maynez was little, she was always drowned to problems. Thanks to her neighbors, she knew that they were not always happy endings, as many girls see in the princess movies. The author lived in an environment full of love, but she knew that there were many that weren’t as fortunate. Her poem talks about domestic violence and how the women feel and think while living it.
