Ode to This Poem, the One I am Currently Writing
Thank you for beginning
For giving me a start
To the words about to come
Which shall soon be written upon this page
And I appreciate your flow
For making it so easy
To place down meaningless nonsense
With this pencil I hold
And still call it art
You are nothing more
Than meticulously chosen words
Trying to mean as much as possible
And still refusing
To serve any purpose

Jack McCarthy is an amateur student author who writes a little here and there when he has time. When he’s not writing, he spends most of his time reading the dictionary. He believes that a strong vocabulary is the key to a healthy and expressive mind. Creative writing is one of his favorite classes as a high school student, and he takes most of his inspiration from his 12th grade English teacher, Mrs. Schebesta. Also, he hopes you like his work. It’s around here somewhere.
