I love you at night
i love you at night
eyes closed
lights off
curtains drawn
i love you in the dark
keyhole light shone on one eye
haunting
i love you when it’s quiet
no heartbeat under the floorboards
just heavy breath
i love you secretly
folded up
neatly stacked feelings
barely contained
i love you til the mourning dove coos
and then my love is gone
our love is real to me every night
even if you only feel it in my dreams
loving you is an action i can only execute in imagery
pale in aphantasia
i trace your outline
the curve of your existence
out of reach
my love for you burns eternal
but i can only love you at night
