Restless Nights
On the rare nights I close my eyes,
Forget the fear of the oncoming day
And let my mind run free,
I dream countless dreams.
Some of sorrow, others of delight,
Conjured by my locked imagination.
I’ve bled, I’ve cried,
I’ve screamed, and nearly died,
But the thrill keeps me closing my eyes once more,
Just for a taste of something more unique
Then my plain, boring, normal weeks.
Other nights are empty,
Dry and solely for sleep.
As I wake, I mourn
My forgotten dreams,
Lost in the abyss of my memory.
An experience, unrestrained
By the laws of reality,
Was stolen away from me.
But perhaps I was spared from
The torment of a nightmare.
Terrors from the lair of my head where
My fears lay bare.

I love dreaming at night and I love remembering my dreams, even the bad ones. This is an ode to dreaming.
