Fired Love
Do you know the smell of a warm blazing fire
From beneath as it wafts up to your nose
Sizzling what seems to be all of your nerves?
The charcoals scream in a last ditch effort
To escape the ruthless flames
Shards of paper, cardboard, and hickory wood sift up into the sky
Creating a visible engulfing smoke sensation
I find it rather easy to get lost in the force of fire
It’s creative, comfortable, and affectionate
It draws in eyes from around as its movements are rather unpredictable
But nonetheless amiable
She was my fire
She burned my heart, lungs, and battered soul
I had to watch as her beauty couldn’t be denied
She played me as her fool
But I couldn’t walk away
Her torching personality of ambition and confidence
Created an experience that demanded my attention
In the final days, her spark had dwindled down
She was fumes instead of flames
Irritating, suffocating, and harsh
She no longer possessed the kindled love
Our time had come to an end
The coals, embers, and burned hickory wood
Felt cool to touch
The remaining inferno was purposely doused
And her remnants took to the sky
The smoke more powerful than ever
As she said her last goodbye
