Favorite Quote:
sanity is overrated.

they say

i am broken

the voices in my head at night

whispering the words left unspoken

i’m nothing but ashes from a fire

hoping, wish upon impossible hope

to restart again;

nothing more than

a shattered girl with a pen

broken pieces that no one could put together–

not even all the king’s horses and all the king’s men

but

sometimes

with you by my side

i feel drunk on a new high

i’ve abandoned all logic

letting fate lead me, blind

caught up in the magic

forgetting my world of ashes

dreaming

that

maybe together,

we can conquer lightning and set skies aflame

maybe together,

we can fly to touch the stars

and grasp universes to tame

maybe together,

we can burn brighter than the sun

and the stars who dared laugh

leaving the rest of the world at our feet

maybe together

we can restart, and hit delete

soaring, together,

in our own midnight symphonies

indulging our wildest

childhood fantasies

that people dared to call impossible

proving

that we are more than just the underdogs

possibilities rush, adrenaline pours

will you join me

in defying all odds?

it’s a cruel world

but

maybe together

we can be alive

unbreakable

invincible

and burn bright

within the ash

i close my eyes

hoping to never wake up

hoping to never remember

hoping you will finally be the one

to put me back together

b u t

then

reality kicks in,

like an unwanted slap in the face

and i’m snapped out of my reverie

snapped out of my dreams

snapped into the real world,

full of expectations and harsh truth

reality kicks in,

reminding me that i can never

be strong, like atlas

carrying the world on his shoulders

or invincible, like antaeus

drawing strength from mother earth itself

or normal, like the everyone else

building the friendships that can last

reality kicks in,

and you’re laughing with her

with your back to me

days crawling by in a blur

leaving me

hurting

denying

aching

c o l d, like ash

unable to accept

that you’re gone

because

maybe together,

we could’ve rewritten the rules for the galaxy

maybe together,

we could’ve turned our wildest dreams into reality

maybe together,

we could’ve been more than who they shape us to be

maybe together

we could’ve burned

brighter than the sun

because, unified,

our power would have stood far greater

than the endurance of one

reality kicks in,

heartache

ripping apart the seams

that we’ve built

trying to stamp down

the sparking remains

of my impossible dreams

that could’ve never come true

because it’s a cruel world

one that i’m not

enduring through

with you

reality kicks in

i’m alone

they still laugh

you dance on, with her

i’m ice cold, left with nothing left but

a memory of warmth,

a shattered happily-ever-after,

and

a pen

i  b r e a k

over and over

ashes,

once again
