Don't hide your feelings. Write about them instead!

Every day revolved around the same routine.

Not a single task fell out of place

of my rigid schedule.

Every night,

I fell into bed and wished that things could be

better in my dreams.

Maybe I became a little claustrophobic.

Small things began to suffocate me.

The air around me always felt tight.

My back was weighed down

by mountains of stress.

On most days,

I found myself gasping for air.

Not because it was physically hard to breathe

but because

my environment was suffocating me.

Slowly,

But surely.

On the day that it was pouring outside,

I forgot my umbrella.

I tried to wait out the storm.

But the endless torrent of rain

 continued to ensue.

So I ran into the downpour.

As I waited for the pedestrian light to change,

I took a good look at my surroundings.

I had never noticed how beautiful anything was

until now.

I had been focusing too much on my future.

I always looked ahead of me,

and never really appreciated

what was already there.

The trees,

the flowers.

Despite it all,

they continued to blossom

from their tiny seedlings.

Maybe running in the rain

wasn’t so bad after all.

There might come a day

when my spring comes, too.
