My Life
A courageous clever child
About 2 years of age
Running around
Playing while sitting on the ground
Having the best of life
Learning new faces
New places
Loved my family
My relatives
Till one day all that was stolen
From me
When my parents decided to
Leave our home country
To go live in a place
where we had nobody
My Dad, My Mom, my sister and I
And the beginning of a new life
New school, though quite terrifying,
was alright
Big and wide,
School in Miami
(I do not recall the name of it)
Already started talking to someone when
The teacher had told her to
Help me in some sort of way
A touch screen board
With white boards on both sides
Markers,
Couple of computers on my left
Then again,
We had to move because
We lived in an apartment
Which they told us to get out
Of, they had to construct a new one
New, not really
Wasn’t that scared either
New school, yes
Was sad, I really liked those people
Couple weeks later…
Got used to the school,
Clean and a bit massive than the other
The people, place
The people were
People of all races, Black, white, brown, asian
Fairly the same
Years passed, when I finally graduated elementary school
My dad lost his job, he worked at a restaurant
So, he decided that we move to a whole different state
The weather, policies, place
Here, Oshkosh, WI
It was astonishing to see a state so green
The peace, and nice people I’ve never seen
I started 6th grade after summer break
So then I got in line and my homeroom teacher started
To give us a tour of the school, the school only had 2 floors
The sound of everyone’s feets tapping against the floor as we walked
Around the school
I got a student planner something I never
got in elementary school
Then in the near end of 6th grade
The pandemic hit
Depressing and frustrating to sit at home
Seeing millions of people die made me want to cry
A virus that could be caused from the people you love
Had to learn from a computer screen
Even the summer wasn’t entertaining
Felt like there was nobody else in the world
Except for you and your family
Could never go outside, only
To get necessary groceries or supplies
Then the school year started
And we had to sit behind the screen
Despite how impossible it was to work from home
The teachers made the classes very easy
And I got straight A’s
Then we went to between home and school
Learning which is called hybrid learning
It was stupid, it wasn’t the same
And it definitely created more difficulty for the teachers
Switching between which students they were going to teach today
Thank god, that year was over
And everyone hoped for a better 2022
Things did got better this year
But it was like you had to get to know everyone again
With the masks on faces, not knowing who could be sick
Couldn’t tell if someone was smiling or terrified
Everyone having the urge to take off their mask
Staying 6 feet away
Not sharing food, water, paper, pencils, nothing
It felt like it was a new world
where everyone was scared of each other
Could hardly hear anyone with masks on
Had to speak louder or even scream
The world felt slow
But in the middle to the end,
things started to normalize
I made some new friends
But also lost some
There was some drama that happened
At the end of 8th grade
With some of my friends
Which I wasn’t really included in
But knew what it was all about
So there were two sides and
All of my friends trusted me and told me their side of the story
Of course I couldn’t pick sides so I supported both
Or simply just listened to what they had to say
So maybe it could lighten their guilt
Yet, it didn’t end in good terms
But I was still friends with both sides
It was the start of freshman year in
Oshkosh West high school
Though I didn’t focus too much on making friends
Cause I knew that if I wanted to get into colleges
And my dream colleges, then I have to focus on my grades
And friends just came to me naturally
I didn’t have to try too hard to make any
And even if I didn’t,
I didn’t care much
I signed up for many clubs but didn’t join any
Except for the school newspaper
Which I only wrote two articles for
But you know freshman year went by fine
Though I regretted the decision to take a study hall
So to make up for that half credit I missed
I decided to take creative writing during the summer
And here I am completing an autobiography for
An assignment for creative writing
