“I promise.”
I refuse to make a promise.
As a kid a pinky promise is the biggest way of securing a vow.
Fingers wrapped around each other and the whisper of “I promise.”
A promise should be kept, never to be broken, yet people tend to be careless.
For me it was special, as they looked me in the eye holding out their pinky.
“I promise.”
I remember that day so well, and now wish that I didn’t.
A promise can mean many things, big and small. It can keep a secret, or reveal things to others.
But one thing is for sure, it shows someone’s true being.
Whether someone is careless or keeps it can reveal a lot about their character.
Once upon a time, a promise was something special.
Now I’ve learned that they are only beautiful lies.
In the end, you always are left with a broken promise, and a broken heart.
“I promise.”
