Where I'm From By: Sydney Beckham
I am from lavender purple walls and shelves full of antique treasures.
Everything must be in its place.
I am from sandy beaches on the Florida coast where feelings of waves stay with you long after you’re gone.
I am from the know-it-all’s and hand-me-downs.
I am from bonfires and barbecues.
I am from the saying “never give up.”
I am from the memories I have of my old life.
I am from always trying my best, so I don’t disappoint others.
I am from a family who’s constantly holding on to each other yet growing apart.
I am from sisters and brothers who help take the pain away.
I am from my parents who divorced, giving me a second chance in life.
I am from the deep roots of Italy, where my grandfather once lived, which leaves me to wonder what roots I will leave for my children one day.
