Spilled Sand
A told secret looks like sand, leaking slowly from a cracked hourglass.
Quiet, whispering, pale yellow, and spreading.
At any moment, the glass might shatter.
Swirling, sweeping.
For you cannot pick up all the grains.
There will always be specks, reminding and remaining.
The sand crunches between my fingers.
Rough and smooth, soft and silent.
A told secret is like an hourglass.
Counting down seconds, minutes until it runs empty.
And then my sand is on the other side.
