She looked like art.

I forget. I forget memories, I forget plans, I forget birthdays.

I forget.

My mind gets weak, I lose my train of thought. But the muscle memory from the past is something I never forgot.

From the first time we held hands, to the first time we kissed, to the puncture of your soul touching my lips.

I forget the day, I forget the time, but certain smells, certain tastes, bring me back to a time when all that was once mine.

I see your face, and in that beauty I see mine. I see our past, our present, our future, and how they all exist beyond our lifetime.

I forget how much you mean to me until your name crosses my mind. It's a shame you'll never know how much I loved you and how you never accepted how much your heart cared for mine.

You forget, I remember, you remember, I forget. We never came to an agree, we never make arrangements.

But one day, one night, one lonely winter sky. We meet on the ice and we touch hands. The resistance we had for each other's touch, wasn't strong enough to keep us from being hand in hand.

All the memories of pain fade and all the smiles and joy come alive.

All that was once forgotten, that we seem to forget, lies between the beauty of our eyes.

From the first time we held hands, to the first time we kissed, to the first time the puncture of your soul touched my lips.

We remember. We remember the memories, we remember the plans, we remember the birthdays, all from being hand in hand.

From once forgetting, but never forgot, we align the stars with just a thought.

I remember.

The author's comments:

I wrote this piece because I feel we tend to forget things in just a split second of time but the little things we don't pay attention to can remind us of everything and anything. This poem expresses how all that was once forgotten from our heads was never truly forgot from a simple touch.
