Happiness 

Joy

First thing that comes to mind when seeing a smile 

Everybody believes smiles are a sign of happiness and freedom

However, deep behind smiles is dark and depressing 

Smiles are masks to most

Used to cover up tears

Used to cover up unwanted emotions

Used to fool the mindless

Smiles are usually a sign for help

Suicide 

Depression

Stress

Exhausted

Smiles covers all these horrible things up

People who smile all the time

Everyday

Are those who at one point never smiled or thought about it

Now they smile to help others or for others to not worry about them

However, I do know the feeling of using smiles as a mask

It’s an awful and horrendous feeling 

Knowing at any point tears can appear while being “happy”

Deep behind that smile

Is a person who wants a meaningful hug 

To be told they matter

People don’t recognize it though 

Tired of the mask

Tired of emotions that brought nothing but pain and agony

Society wants us to cover up our emotions 

Smiles is one of many examples 

Yelling

Punching

Examples of masks 

Masks used to cover up emotions we either don’t talk about often or can’t talk about

Smiles

A thing seen as a sign of joy 

Is really a sign for help
