love from the eyes of a sinner

when you love,
does it taste sweet or bitter?
does it feel warm and affectionate
or is it a coldness that seeps into your bones?
how can you love someone
in a way that matters?
someone once told me
love shouldn’t hurt more than it heals
but if i believed them
it would mean i have never loved before
and that,
isn’t that a scary thought?
