Shadow on a Summer Day

I look back and she’s gone
I look forwards and she’s gone
I am alone
Nobody was there to follow my every move
As I skip on my way down the path I look behind
I see a dark shadow hugging against my side
I smile knowing I’ll be okay
I missed a sense of comfort
When I looked back I didn’t like what I saw
Blank cement on a summer day

I am a senior at my highschool and I enjoy my creative writing class. We had to write a free verse poem and after listening to Olivia Rodrigo I got an idea to write this poem.
